Exploring the ocean depths in Dave the Diver introduces players to unique underwater ecosystems and hidden pathways. One of the most critical mid-game areas is the Glacial Passage, which bridges the Sea People Village and the frozen depths below. Successfully navigating this area requires overcoming puzzle rooms and completing prerequisite tasks for the local villagers.
Unlocking the Frozen Threshold
Before you can step inside the passage, you must build high affinity with the inhabitants of the Sea People Village. This involves finishing several village favors, particularly assisting the blacksmith to unlock subsequent main story interactions. Once these tasks are cleared, a guide named Suwam will stand outside the palace to escort you to the massive ice doors.
After entering the regional doorway during Chapter 5, players will encounter a series of ancient mechanics designed to block unwanted visitors. The path ahead requires active puzzle-solving to manipulate heavy mirrors and melt thick blockages of ice. Ensuring your diving equipment is adequately upgraded before proceeding will make this exploration much smoother.
Solving the Core Contraption Puzzles
The interior of the passage features multiple puzzle chambers where light mirrors must be rotated to redirect energy beams. For the initial puzzle, you need to strike the bottom-left mirror twice so it accurately reflects the laser toward the bottom-right target. Correctly aligning these ancient objects triggers mechanisms that allow Dave to progress further down the shaft.
Deeper within the cavern system, the puzzles increase in complexity by introducing movable stone pillars and shifting platforms. Players must carefully study the murals on the background walls to understand the intended orientation of the interactive rocks. Getting each object into its proper slot causes the stones to flash, confirming that the central passage is now safely open.
Escaping the Ancient Threat
Reaching the lower depths of the passage triggers a dramatic narrative encounter with a massive, aggressive creature known as the Giant Gadon. This encounter shifts the gameplay from deliberate puzzle-solving into a tense, high-stakes escape sequence. You must react quickly to environmental prompts and swim efficiently to avoid getting caught by the beast.
Successfully outrunning the creature completes the dangerous mission objective and officially unlocks the main Glacial Area for subsequent exploration. From this point forward, players can bypass the long walking route by utilizing the fast-travel mirror located directly on their boat.
